The following corporate environmental policy is deeply rooted in the consciousness of all our employees:
We shall
- Comply with applicable environmental legal requirements and directives
- Support social and environmental projects in all Crystal factories, and encourage them to develop partnerships with customers, suppliers and local communities who make direct or indirect environmental contributions to society
- Initiate tree-planting and greening projects in China and overseas countries
- Continually improve our systems for the prevention of pollution and the promotion of energy savings
- Demonstrate the principle of "Avoid > Reduce > Recycle > Dispose" throughout the manufacturing processes
- Educate and motivate our employees to participate and take responsibility, thereby making environmental work an integral part of their daily routine.
Our environmental performance is monitored and reported by a dedicated Corporate Quality and Sustainability Department.
Our Approach
At Crystal, we achieve 'zero waste and zero landfill' in 4 key ways:
We don’t create waste - in the first place by not using things we don’t need. To ensure we avoid environmental harm, we evaluate the potential impact of our projects before approval.
We reduce our impact on the environment by only using what we need, when we need it, and by cutting our consumption of energy and other resources where we can.
We reduce, recycle or reuse throughout our operations and across all markets. In addition to finding creative ways to make the most of all materials, we try to recycle our waste into useful commodities.
We dispose of our waste responsibly, adopting sustainable waste management practices in all our facilities. We continue to cut our landfill contributions and incineration needs.
Our Green Culture
We have adopted a 'Green Culture' across all locations, departments and teams. This environmental consciousness thrives at all levels of the organization – from senior management to frontline staff – to make our green vision a reality.
Our 'Green Culture' is nurtured through the intranet, touch screen terminals at our factories as well as informative posters displayed at our facilities. All our 38,000 employees are committed, individually and as a team, to achieving our environmental and energy goals.
More importantly, by influencing their families and the people they meet to develop positive habits, our employees are changing the world every day.
Our Green Manufacturing Practices
As advocates for the environment, Crystal Group is constantly improving our green manufacturing practices. We are investing in transforming all our facilities into ‘green factories’ which use less water and resources and produce fewer carbon emissions.
The following projects have been implemented in our Pearl River Delta factories to great success. We will extend the projects to our other factories in phases going forward:
- Clean Production Program by Guangdong Provincial Government
- Low Carbon Manufacturing Program (LCMP) by WWF-Hong Kong
- ISO14000 Environmental Management System Certification
